When you request information, subscribe to a mailing list or for a service or respond to an online survey, we will ask you to provide personal data. The information we collect from you, your device or from publicly available sources, may be combined with information obtained from other Mētan services. We use cookies and other technologies to keep track of your interactions with our sites and services to offer a personalized experience. You can stop the delivery of promotional e-mails from Mētan by following the instructions in the e-mail you receive.

We use the information we collect to provide the Services you request.

We use your information to inform you of other products or services offered by Mētan, and to send you relevant survey invitations related to Mētan services.

We do not sell, rent, or lease our customer data to third parties.

We process your personal data based on the following legal grounds under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): When you provide explicit consent for specific processing activities
• Contract Performance (Article 6(1)(b)): To perform our contract with you and provide our services
• Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f)): For our legitimate business interests, including improving our services and security

Mētan collects personal data from you, including, but not limited to, your e-mail address, name, job title, company name or organization name, and telephone number. Additionally, provided you consent, Mētan may collect location data received from a GPS-enabled mobile device or other mechanism that you have set up in order to show your location to other Users or provide meeting information specific to your geographic locality via the System.

Mētan automatically collects certain information about your computer or mobile device hardware and software. This information can include: your IP address, mobile device type and model, browser type, device ID, domain names, access times and referring web site addresses.

Mētan may also collect information about you, such as name, email address, and use of social media websites, from publicly available sources.

When you choose to connect Google Calendar, Mētan accesses your calendar availability (free/busy times), calendar list, and creates calendar events on your behalf when you schedule meetings.

When you use Mētan's AI-assisted onboarding or connection matching features, we collect the information you provide during onboarding conversations (such as your role, industry, interests, and goals) and the professional keywords associated with your profile. This content is sent to our AI provider as described in Section 9.2.

We will retain your personal data for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy. Specific retention periods include:

• Account Data: Retained for the duration of your account plus 3 years after account closure
• Meeting Data: Retained for 2 years after the meeting date unless deleted by user
• Communication Records: Retained for 7 years for business and legal compliance
• Marketing Data: Retained until you withdraw consent or request deletion

As a data subject under GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Right of Access (Article 15): You have the right to obtain confirmation of whether we process your personal data and receive a copy of your data.
• Right to Rectification (Article 16): You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal data concerning you.
• Right to Erasure (Article 17): You have the right to request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances.
• Right to Restrict Processing (Article 18): You have the right to request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
• Right to Data Portability (Article 20): You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used format.
• Right to Object (Article 21): You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.
• Rights Related to Automated Decision-Making (Article 22): You have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing.

If you are using the System or Services from the European Economic Area (EEA), please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, or processed outside the EEA, including in the United States. We ensure adequate protection for such transfers through:

• Binding Corporate Rules
• Certification Schemes

When you use our meeting scheduling feature, you may choose to connect your Google Calendar. This integration is optional and requires your explicit consent.

What We Do NOT Access

• Details of your existing calendar events
• Event titles, descriptions, locations, or attendees from your existing events
• We do not store calendar event details on our servers
• We do not share your calendar information with other users

Mētan uses Google Gemini, provided by Google LLC, to power two features inside the app.

1. AI-Assisted Onboarding

Rather than asking you to browse our full internal taxonomy, Gemini helps map your answers during onboarding conversations to the right keywords. The profile information you share during onboarding — such as your role, industry, interests, and goals — is sent to Google Gemini for this purpose.

2. Connection Insights and Matching

Gemini analyzes professional keywords associated with your profile to suggest relevant matches and generate written insights about potential connections. Matching is performed on professional keywords only; core identifying information such as your email, phone number, and postal address is not sent to Gemini for matching.

Consent

Before you create a Mētan account, an on-screen disclosure informs you that Mētan uses Google Gemini AI to personalize onboarding and generate connection insights, and that your profile data is sent to Google to produce these results. By continuing to create your account, you consent to this processing. AI-assisted onboarding is required to complete account creation; if you do not consent, please do not create an account.

Provider and Data Protection

The AI provider is Google LLC. Data sent to the Gemini API is processed under Google's Cloud Terms of Service and Data Processing Addendum, which provide protections equivalent to those described in this Policy. Google has confirmed that data submitted through the Gemini API is not used to train Google's generative AI models. Mētan's backend infrastructure also runs on Google Firebase and Google Cloud, so Google is already a primary sub-processor of your personal data and applies the same data protection standards across these services.

Retention

Mētan does not instruct Google to retain your data beyond what is required to return a response. Outputs generated by Gemini (such as match insights and keyword mappings) are stored alongside your Mētan account and are deleted when your account is deleted.

Your Choices

You can delete your account and remove the profile data Mētan holds at any time from within the Mētan app — no need to contact us. Deleting your account also removes the inputs that feed the AI features, along with any outputs generated by Gemini that are stored with your account.

Mētan does not sell, rent, or lease its customer lists or the identity of individual customers to third parties.

Mētan may share personal data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are contractually prohibited from using personal data except to provide these services.

We share limited personal data with the following third-party AI service to operate the features described in Section 9.2:

• Google LLC (Google Gemini API) — onboarding personalization and connection matching insights.

This third party is contractually required to provide data protection equivalent to the standards described in this Policy.

Types of cookies we use:

• Essential Cookies: Necessary for the website to function properly
• Performance Cookies: Help us understand how visitors interact with our website
• Functionality Cookies: Remember your preferences and personalize your experience
• Marketing Cookies: Used to deliver relevant advertisements

We will only use non-essential cookies with your explicit consent.

Mētan secures your personal data through appropriate technical and organizational measures including:

• Encryption in transit and at rest
• Strict access controls
• Regular security audits
• Staff training on data protection
• Incident response procedures

Mētan will never ask for or knowingly collect information from children. We do not knowingly collect information about children or sell products to children. We will not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 16 (or 13 in jurisdictions where applicable).
